This Test Was A Success
I'm trying to find a way to share my pictures without losing a lot of quality, so I'm trying this to see if I can share them through Flickr.
This is a time lapse taken in the complete darkness with lightning from a distant storm illuminating the clouds every so often. I guess I should admit that it was taken by Sam, my fifteen year old. I had taken several, but the kids were on the dock and their footsteps were causing a slight movement so mine were blurry. When all the rest of us went to the car, Samantha said she was gonna try one or two more shots and came up with this.
A bird across the street from our house.
My Gracie at sunset in the pool.
I have to say, I'm liking the quality so far. I think I'll be much more satisfied posting this way.

Gorgeous pictures, especially the one of your daughter.
Your daughter is a beautiful girl! Did you really take that bird shot from across the road? Amazing!
@Roadkill_Spatula - Thanks
@slmret - Yes she is. They say my kids got their looks from me, because my wife still has hers.
Yep, I took the bird shot with my zoom from across the road. I used it because I actually posted it before on a blog and it lost a lot of detail and became very "less than average" during the upload, so I figured it would be a true test of upload quality.
@lightnindan - Hah
! I'm really impressed with the bird shot -- depth of field, detail in the bird and in the water droplets are wonderful! Looks like your test worked well!
@lightnindan - Oh, or maybe it's flower buds -- still amazing detail!
@slmret - Yep, it's flower buds. It was one of my favorites I took right after I got the zoom. It was another one of those moments when I thought, " I really have to do something to get these pictures to upload more accurately", but I hadn't found a solution 'til now.
The last one is by far the best
I like the first shot. Your kids always make beautiful pictures and that's an excellent portrait. Flicker is ok the only part that I don't like is that clicking on it takes you to the flicker site. Aside from that it's good and I have to agree linking up makes for better quality pics. I don't remember ever using xanga upload cept for homemade videos.
@buddy71 - Thanks.
@wematter - Thank you. My kids frustrate me. We began our study of photography together, and they already do it so naturally while I have to think about what I do or catch a lucky break. We're all getting there, though, and I truly am happy that my kids find joy in it. It's a neat thing to share a hobby with your children.
Impressing night on the first picture and all of the beauty of life in the last pisture(Gracie )

Your photos look great. I loved the one with the bird.
Nice to see you have it figured out.

@ANVRSADDAY - Thank you, Frank.
Love both the phoebe (?) picture and your daughters!
The detail is incredible, it even looks by her fingers that she has been in the water a little too long.
@ElevenStones - Thanks. My kids tell me it's a mockingbird, that phoebes are much smaller. The loss of detail was what I was constantly grating my teeth about when I used Xanga uploader. It certainly looks like this is a much better solution.
